The Colony is home for Different Roofing. Our office is here, our crews drive these streets every day, and many of our customers are our neighbors. When a storm rolls across Lewisville Lake, we are usually on a roof in The Colony the next morning.

The Colony grew quickly after Fox & Jacobs bought land on the eastern shore of Lewisville Lake in 1973. The first families moved in during October 1974, and the city incorporated in 1977. Many homes in those original neighborhoods are now more than 40 years old and have had their roofs replaced at least once. On these houses, we often find older decking that needs repair, attic ventilation that was never brought up to today's standards, and gutters that are too small for the roof. A replacement is the right time to fix all three.
Stewart Peninsula wraps around the Stewart Peninsula Golf Course, which opened in 1998, and sits right on Lewisville Lake. Homes here are larger, many are two stories with steep roof lines and multiple valleys, and lakefront wind exposure makes good shingle sealing and proper nailing especially important. Like many neighborhoods in The Colony, Stewart Peninsula has HOA guidelines for shingle styles and colors, and we follow them on every replacement.
Austin Ranch, on the south end of the city near Plano Parkway and State Highway 121, is a master-planned area with newer townhomes and single-family homes alongside apartments. Roofs here are newer, but hail does not care how old a roof is. A newer roof that took a direct hit from large hail can need replacement just as quickly as an older one, and HOA color standards still apply.
Recent roof projects have taken our crews to homes on Curry, Boca Raton, Overlook Court, Eagle River Run, and Turner Street, plus a duplex on Dooley Drive. If you see our trucks in your neighborhood, feel free to stop and ask what we are working on.
Storm reports show how often hail reaches this part of Denton County. On June 2, 2026, egg-sized hail about 2 inches across was reported near Lebanon Road in The Colony. On March 29, 2025, quarter-size hail was reported in The Colony during a late-night storm that also brought larger hail to Lewisville. And on September 25, 2024, 2-inch hail was reported just east of the city in Frisco and the Hebron area. Storms like these can bruise shingles and dent vents without leaving anything you can see from the driveway, which is why we offer free storm damage inspections with photo documentation. If you file a claim, we meet your adjuster on site.
If you are replacing a hail-damaged roof, ask about Class 4 impact-resistant shingles. They are built to resist much larger hail than standard shingles, and some insurers offer discounts for them.
Like the rest of North Texas, The Colony sits on expansive clay that swells after heavy rain and shrinks during dry summers. That movement shows up as sticking doors, stair-step cracks in brick, and gaps around windows. Good gutters and downspouts that carry water away from the slab help, and if you are already seeing signs of movement, our foundation repair team can take a look.
