- Celina
Celina has grown faster than almost any city in North Texas, and most of its roofs are less than a decade old. Newer roofs still take storm damage. Big hail and strong wind come across the open farmland that still surrounds much of Celina with very little to slow them down, and the damage often shows up first on brand-new neighborhoods. Different Roofing serves all of Celina from our base in The Colony, and we recently finished a roof replacement on Brook Lane.

Light Farms is an 806-acre master-planned community from Republic Property Group, planned for about 2,700 homes. Its farm-inspired design, with greenbelts, open space, and an extensive trail system, sets it apart from other new communities. Many homes are two-story with several gables, valleys, and dormers on each roof. That kind of roof looks great, but every valley and wall joint is a spot where wind-driven rain can get in after shingles are damaged. During an inspection we check those transitions, the ridge caps, and the soft metal on vents, which often shows hail strikes before the shingles do. Light Farms has a homeowners association, and we follow its rules on shingle style and color on every job.
Mustang Lakes, developed by Cambridge Companies, is built around a 20-acre central park and a 5-acre stocked lake. Lots range from standard builder lots to custom homesites of an acre or more, so roofs here run from production builder roofs to large custom roofs with steep pitches and long ridgelines. Bigger, taller roofs catch more wind. After a storm, we look for lifted or creased shingles along the ridges and roof edges, where wind does its first damage, and we check the gutters and downspouts, which take a beating in hail.
Builder-grade shingles on a new home are often not rated for hail that size. Damage on a newer roof can be easy to miss because the granules are still bright and the shingles still lie flat. A free storm damage inspection documents what we find with photos. If you file a claim, we meet your adjuster on site and walk the roof together.
If your first roof is due for replacement, it is a good time to step up from builder-grade shingles. Class 4 impact-resistant shingles are built to resist much larger hail than standard shingles, and some insurers offer a discount for them. We complete most roof replacements in one day, run a magnetic sweep for nails before we leave, and back every roof we install with a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Celina sits on the same heavy Blackland Prairie clay found across Collin and Denton counties. That clay swells when it is wet and shrinks during long dry spells, and new homes are not immune. In the first years after construction, as the soil settles around a new slab, watch for diagonal cracks in drywall above doors, gaps between baseboards and the floor, doors that suddenly stick, and stair-step cracks in brick. Our foundation repair team can evaluate the slab, and properly sized gutters keep roof runoff from soaking the soil next to your foundation.
