Highland Village sits on the southwest shore of Lewisville Lake, with tall trees, rolling streets, and neighborhoods that mostly date from the 1980s and 1990s. Many homes here are on their second roof, and some are ready for a third. The lake also leaves the city open to storms that build over the water. Different Roofing serves all of Highland Village from our base in The Colony, just across the lake.

Highland Shores is one of the city's biggest neighborhoods, with community pools, parks, trails, tennis and pickleball courts, and a clubhouse, all a few minutes from the lake. Most homes were built from the 1980s into the 1990s, many of them two-story brick with siding on the upper walls and gables. Roofs that age have usually been through at least one replacement, and the work done back then varies a lot. When we inspect or replace a roof here, we check for soft or delaminated decking, worn pipe boots, and old step flashing where the roof meets second-story siding. Those are common leak spots on homes from this era.
Highland Shores also has a lot of large, mature trees. They shade the roof and keep the home cooler, but they also drop limbs in high wind, and leaves fill gutters and valleys and hold moisture against the shingles. We look for punctures and scuffs where branches have rubbed, and we can trim back clearance during a replacement. The neighborhood has an owners association, and we follow its rules on exterior materials and colors.
Hail that size can crack shingles and bruise the mat underneath, and gusts over 60 mph can break the seal strips that hold shingles down, even when nothing is missing from the roof. A free storm damage inspection documents both with photos. If you file a claim, we meet your adjuster on site and walk the roof together.
With hail like the March 2024 storm in the area's recent history, many homeowners choose Class 4 impact-resistant shingles when it is time to replace. They are built to resist much larger hail than standard shingles, and some insurers offer a discount for them. Most of our roof replacements are done in one day, our crews sweep the yard for nails with a magnet before they leave, and every roof we install carries a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Highland Village is built on expansive clay soil, and the city's hills and slopes toward the lake can move water across a lot in ways that flat lots do not. Wet springs make the clay swell, and long summer dry spells make it shrink and pull away from the slab. On a 30- or 40-year-old home, watch for stair-step cracks in brick, cracks above windows and doors, doors that drag or will not latch, and gaps where the baseboard meets the floor. Large trees near the house can draw moisture out of the soil and make the movement worse. Our foundation repair team can evaluate the slab, and properly sized gutters carry roof water away from the foundation.
