Lake Dallas is a small city on the north shore of Lewisville Lake, with a mix of older lake homes, 1990s neighborhoods, and a few newer streets. Storms that build over the open water often hit the shoreline hard, and the city sits right in the path of some of the biggest hail Denton County has seen in recent years. Different Roofing serves all of Lake Dallas from our base in The Colony, just across the lake.

Thousand Oaks is an established Lake Dallas neighborhood built mostly in the 1990s, with brick homes trimmed in siding, fenced backyards, and plenty of mature trees. Many of its roofs are on their second set of shingles. When we inspect one, we check the siding-to-roof transitions, where flashing is often missing or covered with caulk, and we look for punctures and scuffs from overhanging branches. Leaves and limbs also fill valleys and gutters, which hold water against the shingles and send overflow straight down next to the foundation.
The streets closest to the water, around Lakeview Marina and the Lakeview Camp area, have some of the oldest homes in the city alongside newer houses built on older lots. Roofs here range widely, from low-slope additions to tall two-story rebuilds with balconies and covered porches. These homes take the full force of wind coming off the lake. We pay close attention to ridge caps, roof edges, and the flashing around porch roofs and balconies, and we check that the starter strip and edge metal are holding tight, since that is where wind gets under a roof first.
A free storm damage inspection documents hail and wind damage with photos. If you file a claim, we meet your adjuster on site and walk the roof together.
With hail like the March 2024 storm in recent memory, many Lake Dallas homeowners choose Class 4 impact-resistant shingles when they replace. They are built to resist much larger hail than standard shingles, and some insurers offer a discount for them. Most replacements are done in one day, our crews sweep the yard for nails with magnets, and every roof we install carries a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Lake Dallas sits on expansive clay, and lots near the lake can stay wetter on one side than the other. The clay swells after heavy rain and shrinks in long dry spells, and that uneven movement shows up in older homes first. Watch for stair-step cracks in brick, cracks above doors and windows, sticking doors, and gaps between baseboards and the floor. Large trees close to the house can pull moisture from the soil and make it worse. Our foundation repair team can evaluate the slab, and properly sized gutters keep roof runoff away from the foundation.
